IN THE SPOTLIGHT
A MESSAGE FROM MS. CHRISTIAN

We hope that each of you had a wonderful holiday season! As we continue to navigate the uncertainty associated with COVID, Mountain Brook Schools continue to adjust our reopening plans to address the current community situation.  Due to the recent increase in COVID cases in our community, we will limit visitors in our building (including volunteering in classrooms, eating in the lunchroom, etc.) during the month of January. In addition, students will return to eating lunch in their classrooms for the next two weeks. Finally, our teachers are continuing to emphasize social distancing in our classrooms to minimize close contacts. Masking continues to be optional but highly encouraged as we face this new wave of COVID transmission. Thank you for your continued partnership during this highly changeable time.

COFFEE WITH THE COUNSELORS

Please join the counselors, Liz Fry and Leah TreadwellTHISFriday, January 14th from 11:30am - 12:30pm in the CES auditorium.

Our counselors will share information about guidance counseling resources and materials used in our counseling program, as well as answering any questions.

We will honor all COVID protocols and asks that all parents mask.

LAURA RIVES IS THE MOUNTAIN BROOK TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Crestline 3rd grade teacher Laura Rives for being named Teacher of the Year for the Mountain Brook Schools! We are so proud of Laura and could not think of a more deserving educator.

“Laura Rives is the epitome of a true educator. Not only does she challenge herself to continuously grow in her craft, she also holds that same expectation for her students daily. She partners alongside students and families to build a community that is collaborative, curious, vulnerable, risk-taking, and engaging.  We were honored that she was chosen by our faculty to represent Crestline Elementary School as the 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year!” - Christy Christian, Crestline Principal

COUGARS SERVE

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!  Thank you for all you did to make the season brighter for 45 students at Brookville Elementary.  The holiday gifts we collected for these students filled a school bus and five SUVs!  The Community Outreach Committee would especially like to thank Mrs. Fry, Mrs. Treadwell, Student Council and the countless volunteers who wrapped donation boxes, shopped for extra donations and  delivered the gifts to Brookville.  The generosity of our community is a perfect example of how Crestline Cougars SERVE!

CRESTLINE CHARACTER TRAIT

Each month Crestline focuses on one character trait.  January's trait is SELF-CONTROL.  Self-control is choosing to do what you should even when you don't want to.  The students will learn about self-control in counseling and the trait will be incorporated in their growth and learning.
